In the 1972/73 academic year, a Publishing Department was established at the University of Lodz to compile and edit the university’s scientific, teaching and information works. In 1984, the department was transformed into the University of Lodz Publishing House.

The works that it publishes are authored primarily by members of the university’s academic staff, but also by eminent experts from other centres at home and abroad, while the subject matter of the publications is focused on basic university disciplines and interdisciplinary topics.

The currently developed publishing programme is a continuation of the rich selection of carefully edited and typographed publications in various fields of science, with particular emphasis on the broadly defined humanities. At the same time, we strive to make our publications more attractive with modern cover designs and the use of high-class and environmentally friendly voluminous and coated paper.

Thanks to our cooperation with Azymut – Ogólnopolski System Dystrybucji Wydawnictw (Polish Distribution System of Publishers) in the field of distribution and promotion, going back to 2012, our publications can now be ordered in more than 1,000 bookshops throughout Poland. At the same time, we are steadily expanding our repository of digitised titles: academic textbooks and research books available online.
